The strictly charity shop vinyl DJ is no longer seeking employment, Randompod #6 (June 2026)

Who needs a one-hour Mixcloud featuring Freeez's 12-minute (or is it 12 hours?) Arthur Baker-produced Scratch Goes My Dub/No Need For Greed, a surface noise-heavy version of T-Rex's Ride A White Swan, mono recordings of tunes by Ella Fitzgerald, Erroll Garner and Django Reinhardt, and a dubious Soup Dragons track which sounds like a Happy Mondays rip-off? Er, probably nobody. But hey, the Strictly Charity Shop Vinyl DJ is back. Back with a few dusty, crackly records picked up in London's charity shops in the past few weeks. Needless to say I parted with very little money to get these must-own records. Fifty pence is my favourite price and 50p can - sometimes - get you quality like this. Actually, if I'm to make a success of my new pub DJ enterprise, perhaps I should call myself the "50 PENCE DJ, PLAYING STRICTLY VINYL". Er, no. No man, it'll never work. Let's just admit it. The strictly charity shop vinyl DJ is no longer seeking employment ...
