What the military is capable of, Podcast #187 (Feb 2021)

Someone pointed out to me this week that there's a pressure group trying to get piped music banned. Do it! Yeah, it's hard not to agree with any and all efforts to exterminate the horrible stuff you hear in lifts, in shops, or while being held in queues on the phone (possibly the worst). Obviously, there's a lot of awful music in existence in the world. That's to be expected. What is completely unacceptable though, is to be made to listen to any of this stuff against your will. An abomination! Commerce is always finding new ways to make your life hell: intrusive advertising, garish design, celebrity endorsements. Anything that modern capitalism can dream up to seduce/repel you will be used. Without scruple. And if you think a few retailers and marketeers are bad enough, just wait until you see what the military is capable of ...
